Crayola Factory

Aunt Kate and I took Evan and Emma to the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA.  It was a very long car ride but both kids were wonderful.  Evan slept and Emma played with her Leapster.  We got to color, make a bracelet (those of you attending Pop-Pop and Yvonne’s Wedding—–check out Uncle Brandon’s wrist ) and play in lots of water.  Emma had  a blast.  Evan slept through most of the trip and when he was awake, he smiled away!!!

Evan went to the doctor’s for his 2 month check up the other day.  He is now 10 lbs 6 oz and 22 3/4 inches long.  He didn’t gain as much weight as they would have liked to see, so he has to go back in a month.  He has been eating like a champ since the appointment , so we will see.  Evan is still not sleeping through the night, but is getting a little better, for the most part.  One day this week he slept from 9:30 to 5:15.  We were SUPER excited.  It felt like I slept for days.

Emma just got over a double ear infection (her first one).  She was on an antibiotic and is much better. We just cleaned out her bins (yep, Grammy, we finally did it) and she decided she was too old for a few toys.  So we put a few in the basement, for now.  We are attempting to make room for Evan’s toys.

Kate and Brandon set a date—August 1, 2008.  We are very excited. They asked Emma to be a flower girl.  She can’t wait to wear a pretty dress and get her hair done.  Emma may be pulling Evan down the aisle, but he may be walking by that time–hopefully!! Doug and I were honored to also be asked to be in the wedding.  It is going to be so  much fun planning and helping Kate and Brandon along the way!!!!

That’s the family news to date! Stay tuned………………

Its been a while……..

Daddy and Emma at the zoo

It has been a while since our last blog.  We have been so busy with Emma and Evan. Here are some of the latest updates:

Evan went to the doctors on Monday. He weighs in at 9 lbs 4 oz and is 21 3/4 inches long.  He is growing every day.  He isn’t sleeping through the night yet, but his sleeping pattern is getting better, for the most part.

Emma goes to preschool two days a week- Tuesday for Spanish and Thursday for Sprinkler Day.  She loves going to school because she has some great friends- Alex and Jackson.

On August 12th (our wedding anniversary) Evan was baptized.  His Godparents are Aunt Kate and a friend, Brandon Moore.  Both seemed very excited to be a part of Evan’s special day.  We were very happy to have these two wonderful people be such a special part of Evan’s life.

We recently took Emma and Evan to the Hershey Zoo.  Emma loved looking at the black bears and owls.  The Hershey Zoo has animals from North America, so no giraffes.  It was a great day.

We will try to keep the page updated a little bit more.

Family News- Brandon proposed to Kate and of course she accepted.  Now there is a wedding to plan in the near future.  We are all very excited for Kate and Brandon.

Evan Meets Grammy, Pop Pop & Great Pop Pop

Evan & Grammy

On Sunday, we went to Willow Grove so Evan could meet Grammy and Pop Pop for the first time.  On the ride down, Sarah and I were discussing how long it would take Grammy to cry.  Eight seconds from laying eyes on Evan, she cried. Sarah won the bet.

In addition to meeting Grammy and Pop Pop, Evan was blessed to meet Great Pop Pop and Yvonne.  Little Evan slept for most of the visit but seemed to enjoy being snuggled by Grammy and Pop Pop.

In Emma news, Emma went to the doctor for her 4Year check up.  She got her eyes checked (20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other- she is bound to need glasses since most of the family wears them) and her ears checked.  As it turns out she can hear very well, she just has selective hearing- I wonder who she gets this from?????     She got 4 shots and didn’t cry at all. What a brave girl.

Emma also enjoyed her visit to Grammy’s.  As usual, Emma and Grammy went for a walk to the Rubillo’s.  Emma loves walking with Grammy because this way she doesn’t have to share her with anyone else.

Evan and Emma

Good afternoon,

Today Evan went to the doctor’s for a check on his jaundice.  His level went down so the doctor was very excited.  They weighed him again and he is now 7 lbs 11.5 oz.  He gained 8 oz since Friday.  He is a growing boy!

Emma has a dentist appointment this afternoon and her 4 year check up on Friday.  She is very excited to go to the dentist and show them her teeth.  This is her third time at the dentist but only the second time they will clean her teeth.

Evan slept most of the night last night, waking up at 1:30 and 5.  This was great considering we had nights where he was up from 12-5—-AAAHHH!! Last night was great! Hopefully this is a trend and he will continue sleeping at night.

Evan’s First Doctors Appt.

Evan went to the Doctor today for his one week checkup-really it was his two week checkup but it was one week home from the hospital.  He is now 7 lbs 3 oz.  He grew 1/4 of an inch! We were so excited to see he gained 6 oz.  Unfortunately, his jaundice level is high (13.9) so we have to supplement with formula.  We go back next week to get the level checked again.  Hopefully it will go down, otherwise he will have to be under the “blankets”.  He will remain at home so that is a good thing.

Emma is still excited about having a baby brother. However, she asks me daily when we will be having a baby sister for her!!!!

Evan’s Arrival

Evan Thomas arrived on Thursday, July 5th at 11:44 p.m.  He weighed in at 6 lbs 13 oz and was 19.5 inches.  He spent the first week of his life in the NICU at Women’s and Babies Hospital because of some breathing problems.  He came home on Friday, July 13th…..we were very nervous to bring him home on Friday the 13th, but it turned out to be our lucky day.

Hello world!

Welcome everyone to our site dedicated to the 2 stars in our lives, Emma and Evan.  Shirl and I thought it would be a great idea, and an easier way, to share all of the things that happen in our lives with everyone.  In the past we have periodically sent out emails with pictures to keep everyone updated but many times pictures were already outdated or we forgot someone.  Here we can add pictures, you can comment, and we can all share in the joy of what life brings.

 Enjoy!

Emma and Evan
